Welcome to my electronic portfolio. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Student Personnel at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I teach Master’s courses in College Student Affairs: Introduction to College Student Affairs, Administration of College Student Affairs, and Practicum/Internship in College Student Affairs; and Doctoral courses in Advanced Student Development Theory, Organization and Governance in Higher Education, and Budget and Finance in Higher Education.
My passion for preparing new college student affairs professionals comes from 14 years of student affairs experience and the transformative opportunities higher education offer students. Higher Education not only gave me a life, it provided me with a calling. My research interests include: women in higher education; economically disadvantaged students in higher education; perceptions of equality of African American and White students, faculty and staff; and college student affairs within a social justice framework.
In addition, I have conducted external program review for the Women’s Center at Oregon State University, facilitated strategic plans for two non-profit organizations: YWCA Ames-ISU and ACCESS, and presented numerous keynote addresses. Please contact me if you have questions about my teaching, research, service, or if you are interested in having me conduct a program review or speak on your campus.
